Nickyb's blogger...

Thanks for dropping by, this blogger is about my up's and down's, tear's and laughter that my interests can bring as I go about them in my own fashion..

This Blogger started through my fishing, and I enjoyed many a happy day enjoying everything that comes along with that, but times change, job changes, and wanting to do different things was to see the fishing gear making way for Motorcycles, and that is how you find me...
Hope you enjoy the Blog.

Nick.

Another few miles..

Bank holiday weekends are not really my favourite, think it goes back to the fishing days, too many people, all rushing about, and not getting anywhere fast..
But, the weather was great, the Buell was sat all ready to go, so off I went.
I'd had planned to visit my mates shop, but after spending half an hour on the motorway, filtering between the stationary traffic, I thought, Bugger this, and headed off at the next junction for some hopefully less packed roads, and a cold drink.

I was soon feeling the wind down my back, and happily winding my way across some nice roads, heading into the back of Alton, and a welcomed cold drink at the Alton Station Café.
There can be a fair few bikers to chat too, but I found it very quiet, so, after a pit stop, I was back heading home ward, down some nice roads, enjoying the twists and turns, pops and bangs from the exhaust on the over run, and just being out and riding.

A little blast around the ring roads, and back home, just as a passing shower came into play.

So, a few more miles, some old roads visited, and a big grin to end the ride with.
Perfect!

A lovely ride out.

Saturday morning, and for once nothing planned, so, out came the push bike, managed a few miles on that without falling off, so, the Buell had to come out too...
A quick fill up, and we was off, out on the back roads enjoying the twists and turns, passing through little villages that I'd not been through in a few years, and out off the beaten paths for a couple of hours of perfect riding pleasure.
The Buell performed faultlessly, more than happy to be in the countryside roads, a real joy to flick left and right, a quick squirt of power and away down to the next set of bends and out looking for some more...
Well happy with my little outing, next up, a ride out to a show next weekend!
Ride safe guys...

Evening...
Its been a while, and I must apologise, for the lack of updats, but it has been a little busy..
BSB marshalling has been great, with some fantastic weekends in the bright Orange.
Plus out with the drag car as well..
Another change in the job front, something completely different, and so far, its bloody brilliant.. roads sweeper 7.5t driver, and some general ground maintenance work as and when needed, so really is completely different!
And of course, another year older..
The LED indicators fitted and work perfectly, and all wired in with no drama's, then, just by chance, I found a Buell Touring seat, and just could not resist, it has made a real difference, make's the ride much better, just lifting by an inch, takes a huge amount of the wrists and looks good on the bike too...
Now, looking forward to enjoying some of this late summer weather!
Ride safe guys.
All the best...

Something Different...

I had a chance to be on the crew for a weekend drag racing, although we used it more for a shake down run,
Santa pod was our venue, and a Run What You Bring meet was our chosen time.
After unloading, signing on, fuelling up and getting everything thing ready, time to hit the starter and go... Hit the starter and go...Go.. Nope, nothing, out with the multi meter and start hunting down the problem, tracing wires back, jacking the car up so we could reach the starter, making up test switches, and going through things one by one, we narrowed it down to the solenoid, no spare with us, so made a by-pass switch up, and in true, time to go, fixed it with some tape and press... Bang, into life, near 8 litres of V8 burst into life, shaking the ground and rumbling with delight, we was off.
Into the match up lanes, with a little bit of a hard push, as the rear brakes where a little rusty, we were soon at the end, and away went the car and driver ready for the first pass, a short half pass, and a big thumbs up soon had us back down pushing for a second run, and what a run a very respectable time and getting better each pass...
Lunch break had us waiting for a long time, and it was decided to make this one the last for the day, although we had hoped for a fast last run, the lane was a little slick, and the car did not pick up as well, but still went well, and all in all a great weekend.

Cant wait to do it all again.

Its back..its Alive, its fantastic.....

The Buell is back!
The engine has had all the necessary work done, new gaskets, piston rings, crank inspection and rebuild, pistons and bores all checked, upgrade on the oil pump gear, and sonic cleaned,
The ECU has been factory reset, full service and a Muller easypull clutch installed.
Engine back into the frame, swinarm been freshened up with a coat of Gunmetal paint, which suits very well, the bright bits polished, the carbon bits added to, thanks to FFCarbon in Germany for the right hand air scoop, does the job of keeping the rear barrel cooler, and stops my right leg from feeling its on fire when in traffic..!

And that is it, back, running and loving it, have a few hundred easy miles to do, then will be enjoying the roar of the motor as it pulls up the road....

but it feels so good to be back on the bike, I dont mind!
Plus when it looks this good... who needs to speed past!

Its all got a little messy...

I had the bike back together, looking rather good, and pleased with all the work I'd put in,
took it for a quick shake down, and, No...
something was well wrong, and not sounding very good at all..
After having a serious ponder, the bike was back inside, on the stands and soon coming down.
The rear barrel base gasket leaking was on thing, but the rumble from the motor was more of a concern, so out it came, I could say it was plain sailing, but not really, a few nuts and bolts, some pipe work, and a frantic call to the missus to assist when it all became alive at the last stage of dropping the motor, it was out..
So the motor went off for a strip and diagnoses, leaving a sad looking frame hanging from the rafters...
And that is where we are, but looking forward to getting stuck into cleaning and prepping the frame ready to take the rebuilt motor..
Happy riding guys, I'm just waiting to get stuck in!
